Managing security and safeguarding data is crucial in any Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. In this post, we’ll explore the concept of Single Sign-On (SSO) how it works, and how it can significantly boost your ERP data security. Additionally, we’ll discuss how implementing a cloud-based ERP software with SSO can provide a secure environment for your confidential business data.
What is Single Sign-On?
Single Sign-On (SSO) is a user authentication process that allows individuals to access multiple applications, systems, or services using a single set of login credentials.
SSO simplifies the user experience by reducing the number of usernames and passwords required, while also streamlining the authentication process. This enhances user convenience and offers increased security for your ERP data.
How Does Single Sign-On Work?
SSO operates by establishing a centralised authentication service that communicates with multiple applications and systems.
When a user logs in to the SSO system, it verifies their identity and grants access to all associated applications and services, without requiring additional logins. This authentication process typically utilises a secure token or a digital certificate to ensure the user’s identity remains protected throughout the session.
Benefits of Single Sign-On for ERP Data Security
Less Password Hassle
Using just one set of login details, users won’t have to remember multiple passwords. This helps avoid password overload, which can cause weak or reused passwords. In turn, this significantly boosts the overall security of your ERP data.
Simplified User Management
SSO makes managing users a breeze, streamlining the process of monitoring and controlling access to your ERP system. This allows administrators to quickly identify and address any security issues that may arise.
Better Compliance
With all authentication centralised, your organisation is better equipped to meet data protection regulations and industry standards. This ensures your ERP data remains secure and compliant, giving you peace of mind.
Secure ERP Data with Cloud-Based ERP Software with Single Sign-On Feature
Don’t leave your ERP data security to chance. Get in touch with us today to discuss how we can help you implement robust, cloud-based ERP software like MYOB Advanced that has Single Sign-On capabilities, safeguarding your sensitive information and streamlining your user experience.
Implementing Single Sign-On
Incorporating Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) with your MYOB Advanced system can further streamline the user authentication process and bolster your ERP data security. By integrating MYOB Advanced with Azure AD, you can facilitate Single Sign-On (SSO) and manage user accounts and access rights in a centralised location.

Important Update for MYOB Advanced Users: Green Button Sign Up
In our recent Azure AD Enablement Webinar, MYOB announced that two-factor authentication (2FA) would become mandatory by 30 June 2023.
However, upon further review, MYOB has decided to extend this enforcement date. For all sites currently displaying an enforcement date of 30 June 2023, MYOB will now extend this to 31 March 2024. This change will be implemented immediately, with no impact on customers.
For those using older versions, the enforcement date will still be displayed as 30 June 2023. However, with this new extension, customers have more time to prepare and transition.
What does this mean for you?
The tenant administrator will retain full control over when this feature becomes mandatory for all UI users (except MYOB Admin), where users will be required to sign up with the MYOB Identity provider.
Please note that to maintain compliance with the DSP framework, MYOB must enforce Secure Authentication and any 2FA requirements as outlined by the ATO. All changes to this field are audited for compliance review, and additional restrictions may be imposed to ensure only certain personnel can modify this configuration.
To help you transition smoothly, we’ve prepared a step-by-step guide on setting up two-factor authentication in MYOB Advanced. Download the guide and follow the instructions to ensure a seamless switch to enhanced security.
